Bukhara Tour 4 days

Itinerary

Day 1, Bukhara

 Upon arrival  Bukhara we  are  welcomed and transferred  to the hotel.

After  breakfast full day guided sightseeing tour around city.

Bukhara is one of the most ancient cities in Central Asia. Most of the monuments in this enchanting city, which attracts tourists from all over the world, date back to the Middle Ages. A historical center of trade and Islamic culture, the city of Bukhara in Uzbekistan is everything you would imagine an ancient oriental fairytale city to be.

Famous historical sites in Bukhara include  Poi-Kalon Complex with the great Kalyan Minaret and Miri-Arab Madrassah, Lyabi-Khauz Complex,Ismail Samani Mausoleum- the burial place of Samanid dynasty dated 9th century, one of the most esteemed sights of central Asian architectures, Ark Fortress- the center of political events and residence of Bukharian rulers until 1920. Nowadays there is Bukhara State museums inside.Visit also the 16th century three old trading domes.The ancient well of Chashma-Ayub, which  is located near the Samanid Mausoleum. The water of this well is pure and considered healing.

In the center of the Old city another one sight attracts tourists- the 12th century Zoroastrian Magoki-Attori Mosque.

 At the third decade of the 16th century Bukhara became a capital of Bukhara khanate, under the government of Shaibanid dynasty. The whole period when this dynasty was in power, they carried out many reforms during this time. In particular they instituted a number of measures to better system of the public education. Almost all madrassah in the city were built under Sheibanids.

 Day 2, Bukhara 

In the morning  we shall visit  sights in the outskirt  of the city. The summer palace of Bukhara emir Sitorai-Mokhi-Hosa ("House of the Moon and the Star") is located at a distance of 4 kilometers  to the north from Bukhara .The construction of the palace began at the end of the 19-th century, when the best artisans sent by the order of the Bukhara emir Ahadkhan to St. Petersburg and Yalta for studying of experience of Russian architects had returned from Russia. 

After visiting this wonderful site we shall visit one of the sacred places in Central Asia- Bakhoutdin Naqshbandi mausoleum - the place of pilgrimage for Muslims which was erected in 1544 in honor of Bakhouddin Naqshbandi, the prominent saint  and the founder of the Naqshbandiya Spiritual Order. It is considered that Naqshbandi was Sayid, the direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad. People from far countries come here to find the healing and wisdom.

Chor-Bakr  (“Four Brothers”) is necropolis in Sumitan village, 5 km to the west from Bukhara. It  was built over the burial place of Abu-Bakr-Said, who was one of the four of Abu-Bakrs (Chor-Bakr) - descendants of the Prophet Muhammad. 

  Day 3, Bukhara - Gijduvan (by road)

Today we shall take a day trip to Gijduvan. On the way we stop in Vabkent  to see the  minaret, which  is one of the most refined works of local architecture. The date of the beginning of its construction (1196-1197) is visible in the form of Kufic inscription in the lower decorative belt round the trunk of the minaret.

We continu drive to Gijduvan. A small town of Gijduvan is situated in 46 km northeast from Bukhara. Gijduvan ceramics take the special place among the large number of crafts produced here.

Gijduvan embroidery is the other distinctive craft regenerated and developed by the master Mustabshira Barakayeva .The craftswomen of the Narzullaev family embroider in silk on cotton fabric in the style traditional to Gijduvan.

In Gijduvan we shall visit the Ceramic workshop and the Museum of Ceramics founded by Narzullaev Family.

In Gijduvan there are also remnants of architectural monuments: the latest  of three Ulugbeg Mardassahs (15 century), of which only the front part has survived to present days and Abd-al-Khalyk Gijduvani mazar.

 Day 4, Depart Bukhara
